Martina April 2010
MARTINA APRIL 2010
We received a call at 4pm on the 6th April from a concerned member of the public who had been out metal detecting and found a large pony so weak that it was unable to get up. We hitched up our trailer and within a few hours we were at the scene. She was so weak that even with all our helpers we could not get her up and so we called the firebrigade who kindly came to help lift her. At midnight we finally got her in the trailer and took her straight to the vets where she was put on a drip. Four days later, supported by slings she came back to our stables at Coxstone where she is slowly making a good recovery. She has one injured eye where she was on the floor for so long, which we are treating. It is early days for Martina, but we are hopefull.
Martina in good hands
22.04.10 Martina sustained some nasty injurys whilst she was on the ground and couldn't get up, the worse being to her left eye which was completely closed up and swollen when she first arrived at Coxstone. With regular daily bathing her eye is slowly getting better, although we are not sure at the moment whether she will have any vison in this eye as it is too early to tell. She is wearing one of our slings night and day and we have just started un-hitching her during the day as she is starting to get a little stronger. She is still attached to the pully system during the night. Since being here she has not laid down as we think she is scared that she won't be able to get up again, we are hoping she will try to lay down soon. Her future is now looking much brighter.
25.06.10 We are so pleased with Martina's progress. She needed a lot of attention, especially to her bad eye, but as you can see she is starting to put on weight and is proving to be a smart little mare - such a great result
