Baloo
BALOO
Baloo was found in a field near Catsash in a terrible way by one of our supporters. He was extremely thin and had very bad diarrhea. No owner could be found and he had no microchip to trace him to anyone; we collected him in mid January 2011.

When we got him back to Coxstone we were extremely worried about him as he had no appetite at all, and he also had red worm in his dung. It was clear he had a bad worm infestation, and would need careful worming. We called the vet to come and check him over and he was given a body score of 1.5 and put on a course of antibiotics as the vet was worried he might have an infection. Using special supplements given to us by NAF and Fine Fettle Feeds along with a careful diet, Baloo started to show some interest in food again. Jenny lost her potato peeler to the feed room as carrots were grated into his feed to encourage him to eat. He has been with us just over 10 days and today he has gone out into the field to stretch his legs for the first time, he even managed a short trot. He looks like he is on the road to recovery but it is still early days. He is a sweet gelding and we have all our fingers crossed for him.
